James Harold Jennings , Outsider Artist, was born in 1931. For nine years he worked as a projectionist at a drive-in movie theater.  Many of the images in his art--the Mexican bandits, the Egyptian pharaohs--are straight out of the movies. In 1974, Jennings began building his carnival of movable Ferris wheels, windmills, and whirligigs across the road. "I gets my ideas from dreams,"   When inspiration failed, Jennings supposedly resorted to his favorite trick.  He pressed his fingers into his closed eyelids and looked for ideas in the blotches of color which appeared.  Jennings called himself the sun, moon and star artist, and often incorporated these symbols into his magic art making.
