BUST

Unfired Clay, Artificial Hair, Aluminum foil, Paint

11" x 11" x 5"

This Son Thomas piece is a bust of a life size female figure. The woman has a curly black wig and round earrings covered with aluminum foil. Her face is painted silver on unfired clay. Son Thomas said "The eyes should be clear and plain, just like a picture you take with a camera. You have to draw your eyes in there before you can get them lined up. Your eyes are on a level with your ears. They can’t be a bit higher than your ears and they can’t be no lower. They got to be the same level your ears is and that’s why you don’t have no trouble making glasses. If some people’s eyes was down below their nose, they couldn’t get no glasses to fit them. If I ever get the eyes just like I want to, I can make any kind."

The bust was either purchased from Son Thomas or possibly from well known collector Bill Arnett many years ago, in the early 1990’s.
